500 Years of Tudor Royalty, Stained Glass & Lakeside Grounds
Vyne Rd, Sherborne St John, Basingstoke RG24 9HL
About The Vyne (National Trust)
Originally constructed in the early 1500s for Lord Sandys, King Henry VIII’s Lord Chamberlain, The Vyne is a captivating mansion set amidst rolling Hampshire parkland and ancient woodland. Henry VIII visited the house on multiple occasions, including in 1535 with his second wife Anne Boleyn. Over the centuries, the house evolved with the addition of a classical 1650s portico (the first on an English country house) and theatrical Palladian staircase. The grounds feature a peaceful ornamental lake, working Victorian walled garden, and wetland nature reserve.
